Colombia is located at the northwest part of the South American continent, between Panama and Venezuela. In the south, the border countries are Peru, Ecuador and Brazil.

It is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea by the north and the Pacific by the southwest, giving her a privileged geographic position useful for commerce, industry and market development purposes.

The capital city is Bogotá, and other main cities are Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena and Bucaramanga, all full of warm, intelligent and working people.

According to recent statistic data, there are 45.9 million persons (DANE)  in Colombia distributed in 5 main regions: Atlantic, Andean, Antioquian, Pacific and Amazonian. The 48,8% are men and the 51,2% are women.

By being close to the Equator there are no 4 seasons in Colombia. The main weather is tropical with little variation during the year between summer and winter, this due to altitude given by the mountain system.

Colombia´s official time is always 5 hours behind with GMT, having the same time as New York during winter.

The Colombian Peso (COP) is the official currency and Spanish is the official language.

In Colombia there is a Presidential system established, with a balance of powers between the executive, legislative and judicial branches.

Currently the main law is dictated by the 1991 Constitution.

Elections for president and Congress are run every 4 years, with reelection possibility for both charges.
